When the soul wishes to experience something she throws an image of the experience out before her and enters into her own image
We all tell stories, we tell our friends the stories of our lives, we tell our prospective bosses or partners the stories we think will make them like us/hire us/accept us… The stories we THINK define us.
Dreams are another kind of story telling…
So often in life we tell the same story over and over again – the one that has dramatic effect. The one story from our past which we allow to shape our present and our future, no matter how false the reality of that story may be.
Have you ever had a moment when you realize you have been telling the same story for years about one particular incident which really upset you and then one day find you just cannot tell that story again? Its time for a new story you say – it’s time to let it go… Or maybe you are telling that same story and haven’t yet realised it is time to let it go.
Dreams can help us redefine and reimagine our stories – helping us to let go – teaching us a new language. We need to learn to speak our internal language, which takes courage and patience. When the ego has a story which makes people stop and feel sorry or laugh, then it keeps telling that story because, well, it fuels the ego’s fire and need for attention. But deep inside of us, is a true unblemished self, which really wants to be seen and heard and when the ego is regaling the world with its sorry dramatic story, the dream can gently and quietly, show us an image which speaks a different story… a truer story, one which enables us to live a new life, free from whatever baggage we carry from our past.
So beloveds, let go – dream a little, perhaps it is time for a new story …
